Activists accuse Revolutionary Defense Committee official Lázaro Ricardo Pérez García (Nueva Gerona, Isla de Pinos) - The Orthodox Cuban Party is distributing a document which accuses the Revolutionary Defense Committees of violating rights as described in the United Nations Universal Declaration of Human Rights. The document contains denouncements that Dolia Leal Francisco, National Coordinator of the aformentioned party and also a member of the Independent Economists Institute Manuel Sánchez Herrero, was visited at her home by Delia González, who is responsible for vigilance in Revolutionary Defense Committee #7, of area 16 on "Calle 28 e/ 17 y 19", Vedado, City of Habana, informing her that she had to appear before a prevention commission, made up of "Cederistas", on the 21st of August at 8:00 at night. The document from the Cuban Orthodox Party expresses that Dolia was not advised where or why she had to appear before the commission, and that she, the one responsible for vigilance, Delia González, was responsible for taking her to the appearance, and that her husband, Nelson Alberto Aguiar Ramírez, President of the Orthodox Party, could not know about it. “I answered that my obligation is to go to a unit of the Interior Ministry with a previously issued official summons properly signed and sealed", said the activist over a telephone conversation. Upon Dolia's refusal to go to the appointment, the official from the Revolutionary Defense Committee threatened her that she would tell the authorities about this act of disrespect. Given by Lázaro Ricardo Pérez García, President of the Cuban Human Rights Foundation in Isla de Pinos, to Martha Tamargo, on the 24th of August, 2002. |
